Read on for key gems from her business story.
You Don't Have to Stay Where You Started
Initially, I started in order to building a portfolio of content so I could find a job after graduation. Then it turned into something completely different. With my knowledge and what I’ve learned through my full time job, I realized that I could help people to create content and put themselves out there online. It’s evolved from pure marketing to where now trying to incorporate more creativity.
Reassessing Your Journey
I started journaling that allowed me to dig a little deeper into what I wanted from my business. I felt caught up in all the strategies that people are sharing online rather than what I wanted to do. What I realized is that I wanted to be more creative than just content repurposing.
Since bringing creativity in business, I’m finding that my business is more fun now. By getting back in touch with my creativity, I’m excited to create content and put myself out there more because now I’m more passionate about what I’ve discovered.
What You Can Do to Start Reintroducing Creativity in Business
Create a Pro/Con List
I found creating a pros and cons list helped figure out what I like doing and what I don’t like doing. This helped identify the that things I’m good at and like to do, but also feel aligned with what I’m working towards. It also helped me consider if the business I’ve created is something I want or what other people say I should want.
Figure Out What You Don't Like Doing
With the pro/con list, I realized that I realized that coaching isn’t for me, and that’s okay. There’s plenty of other stuff that I like and that I’m good at that I can do. As an introvert, I also find being on video off putting. The thought of going live is just too much. Knowing these two things helped me focus on the elements that I enjoy and finding other ways to put myself out there – the magazine and potentially YouTube.
Invest in Honing Your Craft
Invest in becoming better at the skill your focusing on. I’m not the world’s best illustrator, but I’m invested in learning and getting better. Also, I love to learning, which at times feels like I’m investing in all the courses. So, focusing on the types of courses to invest in that are aligned with what I need to be learning and who to be learning from will help protect my from shiny object syndrome.
